f you've been dabbling with astrology for a while, you're already familiar with aspects: Sun square Saturn, Venus trine Pluto etc.
But aspects rarely work in isolation. The same Sun square Saturn might also link to Jupiter - and this interconnected web changes the interpretation of Sun square Saturn as taken in isolation.
When 3 or more planets are connected through aspects, they begin to operate as one system.
We call a group of 3+ interconnected aspects an Aspect Pattern.
Some of the best-known aspect patterns are the T-square, the Grand Trine, the Grand Cross, or the Yod - but any group of multiple planets connected through aspects forms a larger pattern of its own.
At the Astro Butterfly School, we believe that aspect patterns are THE core of the natal chart.
Strangely overlooked in most astrology training, they can make the difference between getting lost in the weeds and making sense of the chart as a whole.
Introducing "Aspect Patterns"
Aspect Patterns is Astro Butterfly's 6-month program to teach you how to bring the disparate elements of the chart into a coherent, integrated meaning with aspect patterns.
We focus on one aspect pattern per month - with real examples, application, and context. We cover:
- Natal chart aspect patterns - e.g. patterns that show up in your natal chart. e.g. a Grand Trine, or a Yod
- Transit aspect patterns - e.g. aspect patterns that form in the sky, for example the 2026 signature Uranus-Neptune-Pluto minor triangle
- Temporary aspect patterns - e.g. when a transiting planet, for example Pluto in Aquarius, applies a square to an existing Taurus-Scorpio opposition in your chart, forming a T-square
By the end of the 6-month program, you will recognize core dynamics in any chart you read, and learn how transits activate natal chart signatures through temporary aspect patterns.
